The Intermicronational Environmental Year 2009-2010

The Intermicronational Environmental Year (ImEY) is an international event, organised by Austenasia and Molossia, that will run from 23rd May 2009 to 31st May 2010.

The Intermicronational Environmental Year is designed to encourage micronationalists to do things to help the environment in a physical way, and to report back on what they did with a micronational slant.

Suggestions of ways to help the environment are (but not limited to):
  • Clearing up litter
  • Planting trees
  • Passing and enforcing new “green” laws
  • Making a wildlife sanctuary
  • Anything else you can think of
  • How can you take part? Just represent your micronation in an activity in which you help out the environment in some way and make it a better place, for humans, plants and animals, to live in. Then, report on it and send the report (preferably with photographs) to the address below where they will be posted free of charge (or, post them on your own website and send us the link.)

The environment is in danger. Mankind is using less and less sustainable materials - what happens when oil, coal and gas run out? Emissions are polluting the atmosphere, giving rise to respiratory diseases and causing global warming which, if not stopped, will soon have forced millions from their homes as low-lying regions such as Bangladesh and the Maldives sink beneath the waves. Plastics, which take 400 years to biodegrade and cause terrible damage to ecosystems are thrown away after one use. The ImEY won’t fix all of these problems - but we can go some way towards helping, and by doing this show others that we care about our planet, so that they may help too.

The Intermicronational Environmental Year is also supported by:
