Speech

Given by His Excellency, President Kevin Baugh
April, 24th 2003 XXVI

My Fellow Molossians:

The time has come for Molossia to re-emerge upon the international scene. For too long now, we have maintained a low profile, and remained outside the currents of world events. This effective hibernation was in direct response to the verbal assaults perpetrated upon us by certain Greek journalists, assaults which when added to the previously felt threats made upon our nation by the United States Olympic Committee, made Molossia's high profile position uncomfortable.

However, following many months wherein our nation was virtually invisible, I believe it is time to return to the political mainstream. Molossia was and remains one of the most respected and prominent nations to emerge during the past three decades. Though small, we have built a large niche for ourselves in the world of nations. We have lead the way as a nation through the 2000 Intermicronational Olympic Games, the 2001 Intermicronational Exposition and in hosting and chairing the 2000 and 2001 Norton Awards for Micronational Excellence. These events have established Molossia as a leader in small-nation world events and have earned us a great deal of admiration and esteem.

The future lies before us, but there is much work to be done. We must rebuild our nation's international standing and status, damaged after months of near obscurity. We must then seek to move forward, to energize and galvanize the world of small nations. Recent investigations have shown that the world of small nation, also known as the micronational world, suffers from a lack of direction and purpose. Many nations, dear to us as friends, have virtually ceased to exist. These nations and their citizens will be sorely missed. But there is always hope for the future. Soon, we must resume our place in the pantheon of small nations, and begin to work with those nations to improve our collective lot.

I am certain that our nation will rise again to take its place in world events. There is no doubt in my mind that we have the initiative and imagination to make a positive mark on the world. Molossia can only benefit from this forward movement and hopefully the benefits will be broader, bringing a positive change to those small nations, small nations that, like Molossia, are the future of our planet.

God Bless You,
Long Live Molossia!
