New Navy Ships

The Molossian Navy is proud to announce the launching of the newest vessels in our tiny fleet, the M.S. Spindrift and the M.S. Manatee. The Spindrift and the Manatee are kayaks, obtained by our Navy for their portability and especially for their maneuverability. The overriding mission of our Navy has always been exploration, and these vessels are ideal for that purpose. On 7 April 2013 XXXVI, His Excellency, The President and Chief Constable (and sailor) Alexis christened the Spindrift and Manatee at the Santa Maria River Park, on the Carson River, not far from the Molossian Home Territory. Because of inclement weather, the inaugural voyage of these two fine vessels will be delayed until later in the year. At this time, an expedition along the Carson River is planned as well as wargames by the Molossian Naval Infantry; both missions will involve the Spindrift and Manatee, as well as our two other kayaks, the Platypus and Bandicoot. We are proud to add these two fine vessels to the mighty Molossian Navy and look forward to them serving us well for many years to come!

Late Winter Storm

The weather in the High Desert can be unpredictable in spring and never was that more evident than on Monday, 8 April 2013 XXXVI. After a sunny but windy weekend the weather turned foul late Sunday evening, the winds increasing and bringing with them snow. Throughout Sunday night and the first half of Monday, the cold winds howled around Government House and snow covered the ground, blowing horizontally across our nation. By midday the winds had died, the sun reappeared and the snow was gone, bidding farewell to this sudden storm, with a promise of warmer weather around the corner.

One important note, this was all US weather that invaded our tiny country. Molossian weather is always sunny and 23 C (75 F) but our close proximity to the US means their nasty weather blows across our border, too often!
