On 26 through 28 June 2025 XLVIII the Republic of Molossia was honored to participate in the sixth major intermicronational get-together and conference, MicroCon 2025. Hosted this year by the Aerican Empire, the Newgraviate of Saint-Castin and the Principality of Sancratosia, MicroCon is a meet-up of micronationalists from around the world. The entire event was the 10th anniversary MicroCon and was held in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. This MicroCon hosted the largest number of micronationalists to date, over 120.
On the evening of 26 June a micronational trivia contest was held in the hosting hotel restaurant, Ruby Foo's, which the Molossian team, along with Ironland, Westarctica and Aethodia (Team Desert Penguin!) won in the face of stiff competition. The following day, the 27th, many micronational representatives took part in a walking tour of Old Town Montréal and then later participated in the Nemean Games, a micronational Olympics, on a playing field near the host hotel. Unlike the last Nemean Games in 2023, Molossia unfortunately did not prevail in these games, although The President swept the field in Tic Tac Toe, much to his and everyone else's surprise. That evening many micronationalists gathered for a diplomatic reception in the hotel, hosted by Emperor Eric Lis of Aerica. This allowed the leaders of the assembled nations to gather socially, exchange ideas and generally get to know each other. Most micronationalists come from locales far from each other and the opportunity to meet and greet was a welcome one.
The conference proper began the following day at the hotel, and from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM delegates from over 49 micronations gathered to share their ideas, dreams and worlds with each other. Throughout the day presentations were given on a wide variety of micronational topics, ranging from heraldry, education, sovereignty, legality and more, followed by a roundtable discussion of MicroCon through the years. Introductions to newer micronations, such as Belmoor, Ironland, Liahonia and many more were also made. Breaks were taken, including lunch, to allow time for networking and socializing - and there many photo-ops in front of each nation's information display. The media was also in attendance, of course. Rather than awarding medals this year, President Baugh and the First Lady instead handed out commemorative coins, recognizing that this was the tenth anniversary of the first MicroCon in 2015. After an all-too-brief seven hours the conference adjourned and the delegates departed to prepare for the evening's event, the MicroCon Gala.
The MicroCon Gala was a semi-formal ball, arranged as a soirée following the convention. Attendees arrived in the hotel conference room-turned-ballroom at 6:00 PM, dressed in their finery for an evening of dining and hobnobbing. After a magnificent dinner, dancing and socializing continued until the evening wound down and each leader and their party took their leave. Thus ended this year's MicroCon Montréal event. After this year, the next MicroCon is planned for San Diego, California, in 2027. Until then, MicroCon 2025 was an amazing event and one of memories and experiences that will last for a very long time!
